This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the comprehensive architecture, design, and execution of scalable Data Lakehouse solutions on Google Cloud Platform utilizing BigQuery, GCS, BigLake, and Dataplex.
• Work closely with clients to identify business objectives, data obstacles, and technical specifications, translating these into architectural frameworks and actionable strategies.
• Design and develop data pipelines for both real-time and batch data ingestion, leveraging modern orchestration and streaming technologies.
• Set and promote best practices for data cataloging, metadata management, lineage tracking, and data quality assurance.
• Define and implement models for data security, access control, and governance.
• Act as the technical lead for project teams, providing mentorship to engineers, evaluating solutions, and ensuring adherence to architectural standards.
• Engage in hands-on solution development, proofs of concept, in-depth data pipeline analysis, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, cloud architects, and delivery leaders to enhance solution adoption, scalability, and maintainability.
• Represent Egen as a trusted technical consultant during client interactions.
• 8–10 years of progressive experience in Software Engineering and Data Platform development, with at least 5 years focused on architecting data platforms on GCP and/or Databricks.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in designing and deploying Data Lakehouse platforms featuring data products and medallion architectures.
• Strong grasp of data ingestion methodologies (both real-time and batch), ETL/ELT pipeline design, and data orchestration using tools such as Airflow, Pub/Sub, or similar technologies.
• Expertise in data modeling, storage optimization, partitioning, and performance tuning for large-scale analytical workloads.
• Experience in implementing data governance, security, and cataloging solutions (such as Dataplex, Data Catalog, IAM, or equivalent).
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and guiding clients through decision-making processes.
• Proven ability to lead diverse teams of engineers, analysts, and architects, balancing architectural vision with practical delivery.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities, a curiosity for exploring new technologies, and proficiency in architectural discussions and code-level troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog) and hybrid GCP-Databricks data architectures is a plus.
