
Principal Consultant – Sustainability Reporting & Disclosure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the implementation of reporting strategies and the development of reports for client projects, primarily working independently while exhibiting critical thinking and a solid understanding of processes, strategic issues, context, and client requirements.
• Create content, which includes writing and editing reports, disclosures, and other related documents.
• Perform strategic analysis, benchmarking, and research to formulate actionable short- and long-term recommendations for clients' reporting objectives.
• Manage project delivery teams consisting of colleagues at various levels across the organization, including reviewing and refining team members' deliverables and ensuring they adhere to our quality standards: clarity, thorough thought and analysis, error-free, and polished.
• Complete tasks promptly, within budget, and with outstanding quality, ensuring that projects meet or surpass targets and deadlines.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously, each with its own project team that may include external contractors, while managing timelines, workstreams, and budgets, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks to project success.
• Guide clients on reporting strategy projects through rater and framework gap analysis, benchmarking, and reporting trends analysis to create recommendations for programmatic and policy enhancements that address disclosure gaps and enhance performance.
• Assist clients in collecting data and information, translating key sustainability messages into formats suitable for various target audiences (e.g., investor reporting frameworks, ESG rater and ranker platforms, regulators, customer surveys, employees, etc.).
• Support and advise clients in establishing and executing assurance readiness processes for their sustainability reporting.
• Incorporate and utilize ESG data management tools and software solutions.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience as a sustainability practitioner, with direct experience leading or assisting corporate sustainability reporting and disclosure initiatives.
• Knowledge and comprehension of sustainability/ESG issues along with related reporting trends, drivers, and frameworks, with the ability to identify and express opportunities for enhancing sustainability disclosure and performance.
• Proficiency in some or all of the following disclosures: CDP (Climate, Water, and/or Forest), S&P Global CSA (DJSI), MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS, and EcoVadis.
• Proficiency in the following reporting standards or frameworks: GRI, IFRS/ISSB, SASB, and TCFD.
• Familiarity with current and upcoming ESG disclosure requirements, including CSRD, SFDR, ISSB, and California Climate Disclosure Rules. Experience with Workiva for report development is advantageous.
• Self-motivated and highly driven, with the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with virtual teams.
• A strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a strong client service orientation.
