Principal Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Offer strategic advisory and consulting services to electric utilities that are engaged in grid modernization initiatives.

• Emphasize expertise in SCADA and EMS systems, with a solid understanding of ADMS technologies.

• Perform assessments of the current state of utility operations and operational technology.

• Lead stakeholder interviews, conduct business process workshops, executive workshops, and planning sessions.

• Create business cases, modernization strategies, strategic recommendations, implementation roadmaps, and technology roadmaps.

• Evaluate operational technology maturity and readiness for modernization.

• Formulate operational use cases and define functional, technical, integration, cybersecurity, and non-functional requirements.

• Design system architecture and integration strategies while reviewing solution architectures and technical designs.

• Provide guidance on procurement strategies, RFPs, vendor assessments, demonstrations, due diligence, contract negotiations, and Statements of Work.

• Act as the owner's engineer during implementation, ensuring support for governance, testing, operational readiness, and risk mitigation.

• Cultivate relationships with utility executives, operational leadership, and project stakeholders.

• Prepare executive presentations, updates for steering committees, and strategic recommendations.

• Assist in proposal development, client engagement, thought leadership, conferences, webinars, mentoring, and practice enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.

• At least 10 years of experience in supporting operational technology within electric utilities, including SCADA, EMS, ADMS, or related systems.

• Background in electric utility consulting, SCADA/EMS software vendor implementation, engineering, product management, or professional services; or experience in electric utility engineering, system operations, operational technology, transmission/distribution operations, or control center organizations.
