Principal Cloud Architect

📋 Description

• Define and take ownership of Intelex's cloud architecture vision, standards, and roadmap for an AWS-first, multi-cloud-aware infrastructure.

• Design infrastructure that is highly available, secure, scalable, performant, and cost-effective.

• Assess cloud-native services, emerging technologies, and architectural patterns.

• Lead initiatives for cloud migration and modernization, including re-platforming of legacy systems.

• Architect infrastructure for AI products, encompassing model serving, data pipelines, and LLM integrations.

• Collaborate with the Data & AI team on Snowflake, S3 data lakes, and infrastructure for real-time streaming.

• Establish responsible AI infrastructure guardrails, focusing on data residency, access controls, and audit logging.

• Partner with Engineering, CloudOps, SRE, and DevOps teams for roadmap planning and execution.

• Define and uphold Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code standards, including reusable modules, security scanning, and CI validation.

• Set CI/CD standards utilizing GitHub Actions and Octopus Deploy.

• Facilitate self-service provisioning and minimize infrastructure overhead.

• Implement best practices for cloud security, ensuring least-privilege access and compliance with SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, and PIPEDA.

• Lead cloud security reviews and contribute to AI security and governance efforts.

• Represent Intelex in discussions with enterprise customers, partners, and auditors.

• Define observability standards with tools such as New Relic, CloudWatch, and Azure Monitor.

• Drive the definition of SLOs/SLAs and improvements in reliability.

• Coordinate responses to major incidents and participate in blameless post-mortems.

⛳️ Requirements

• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 8 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, CloudOps, DevOps, or SRE roles supporting highly available SaaS/production platforms.

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with AWS architecture.

• Proven expertise in designing Terraform modules, security policy-as-code, and CI-integrated infrastructure validation.

• Strong proficiency with Kubernetes (EKS / AKS), AWS ECS, and Docker.

• Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitHub Actions; familiarity with Octopus Deploy or Jenkins is a plus.

• Proficient in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell.

• Experience in architecting systems for compliance-sensitive environments (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR / PIPEDA).

• Excellent communication skills; able to present architectural decisions to leadership, senior engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.

• Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check and Public Safety Verification.

• AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification is preferred.

• Strong preference for experience with Azure architecture, data platform infrastructure, AI/ML infrastructure, FinOps, multi-tenant SaaS architecture, and Linux/Unix systems administration.
