Principal Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance a serverless backend architecture on AWS, primarily leveraging Python 3.10+, Lambda, CDK, DynamoDB, Cloudfront, SNS, SQS, S3, and other associated services to facilitate customer-facing applications and internal operational processes.

• Spearhead the architecture, implementation, and integration of our REST API, event processors, services, and foundational datastores that provide meaningful data exchange with customers using the Happy Ring.

• Establish and promote backend engineering best practices across system design, observability, reliability, performance, maintainability, and security.

• Offer technical leadership to fellow team members, contractors, and partners working on these systems.

• Influence architectural decisions and foster technical collaboration across software, mobile, web, eCommerce, operations, and partner-facing systems.

• Assist in ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to best practices across these systems and the access mechanisms employed, including M2M authentication, authorization, and login processes.

• Proactively identify technical risks, scalability issues, and platform deficiencies early, and drive solutions that cater to both immediate commercial growth and long-term platform requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in backend software development.

• More than 5 years of experience with Python.

• At least 5 years of experience in building and managing production systems within AWS.

• Proven experience in designing scalable APIs, cloud infrastructure, and continuous integration workflows.

• Strong background in making technical trade-offs concerning performance, reliability, security, and execution speed.

• Demonstrated capability to lead technical design initiatives and influence engineering strategies across multiple systems or teams.
