Principal Autonomous Systems Safety Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Establish a clear execution strategy for engineering teams by deriving technical safety requirements utilizing your preferred tools.

• Conceptualize and implement robust frameworks for the validation and verification (V&V) of end-to-end (E2E) robotics solutions.

• Leverage mental agility to navigate complex and evolving technical challenges while fostering cross-functional problem-solving.

• Perform risk assessments to guide safety reviews and assist in feature concept development.

• Collaborate with the data infrastructure team to strategically pinpoint data and tools necessary for monitoring and quantifying real-world fleet performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of relevant engineering experience, including risk assessment/management and product/functional safety.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing safety-critical electronic and embedded systems.

• Experience in conducting risk assessments for autonomous ground vehicles and performing safety reviews (HARA, STPA, FMEA, etc.).

• Proven ability to design comprehensive V&V frameworks for end-to-end robotics applications.

• Exceptional mental agility, with a history of excelling in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, complemented by legal and regulatory understanding.

• Capacity to thrive in a start-up environment, assisting team members beyond your direct responsibilities, and managing multiple ongoing projects.

• Familiarity with ISO-18497, ISO-26262, ISO/PAS 21448, or similar standards (DO-178, ARP-4754, IEC 62304, etc.).

• Solid foundation in Systems Engineering principles.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
