Principal Architectural Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee comprehensive architecture solutions for enterprise, healthcare, and government technology projects.

• Develop target-state architectures that align with business, operational, security, and regulatory needs.

• Establish standards for enterprise architecture, design patterns, reference architectures, and engineering guidelines.

• Participate in Architecture Review Boards to offer technical recommendations.

• Assess emerging technologies and explore opportunities for modernization, automation, AI integration, and operational efficiency.

• Architect solutions for Medicaid and Health and Human Services.

• Lead initiatives for AWS cloud migration, digital transformation, platform engineering, and modernization.

• Design and manage cloud solutions on AWS and Azure.

• Create cloud landing zones, implement security controls, ensure observability, apply FinOps practices, and set standards for self-service provisioning.

• Design, construct, and oversee enterprise Kubernetes environments, focusing primarily on Amazon EKS.

• Spearhead Kubernetes platform engineering, production support, upgrades, security, networking, reliability, and observability efforts.

• Define DevSecOps practices and enhance secure CI/CD architectures.

• Lead initiatives in Infrastructure as Code, policy-as-code, GitOps, and automation.

• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on identity management, vulnerability remediation, secure access, and compliance.

• Architect robust solutions for disaster recovery and business continuity.

• Support Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), monitoring, incident management, and operational excellence.

• Provide expert guidance and mentorship to architects, engineers, technical leads, and product teams.

• Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical and architectural issues.

• Assist in proposal development, technical sales, RFP/RFI responses, and client solutions.

• Create strategic roadmaps, cost models, migration strategies, and modernization plans.

• Present solutions to executive leadership, clients, and stakeholders.

• Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure the successful implementation of proposed architectures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive expertise in AWS cloud architecture.

• Proficiency in Kubernetes/EKS platforms.

• Strong knowledge of DevSecOps practices.

• Proven experience supporting large-scale Health and Human Services environments.

• Experience in architecting Medicaid delivery systems and Health and Human Services programs.

• Familiarity with AWS and Azure cloud environments.

• Expertise in Amazon EKS architecture, Kubernetes cluster design, lifecycle management, multi-cluster strategies, disaster recovery, service mesh, container security, ingress/networking, upgrades, observability, monitoring, performance optimization, and platform reliability engineering.

• Experience with CI/CD pipeline architecture, Infrastructure as Code, policy-as-code, and GitOps.

• Knowledge of GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, ArgoCD, Terraform, CloudFormation, Kubernetes Operators, and automated testing frameworks.

• Understanding of identity management, vulnerability remediation, secure access controls, compliance frameworks, SRE, observability, incident management, and operational excellence.

• Ability to support RFPs, RFIs, technical sales engagements, and client solutions.

• Capability to create technical roadmaps, cost models, migration strategies, and modernization plans.

• Proficiency in presenting architecture solutions to executives, clients, and stakeholders.
