Principal Architect – Cloud Native Platforms, Kubernetes

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of system design and implementation while providing guidance to engineering and ensuring it aligns with the overall architecture.

• Create proof of concepts to support design decisions and suggest suitable technologies.

• Collaborate with product managers and product architects to shape product direction.

• Influence the engineering roadmap in conjunction with product and engineering management and business stakeholders.

• Establish best practices, disseminate knowledge, and mentor team members.

• Work alongside engineering teams in an Agile setting.

• Direct the architecture and design of Akamai's Kubernetes-based platform that supports cloud infrastructure products and services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of relevant experience.

• Degree in Computer Science or a similar field.

• Proven experience in building and maintaining highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable platforms.

• Background in developing production services utilizing Kubernetes and Cloud-Native technologies such as ArgoCD, Flux, Helm, Cilium, and RKE2.

• In-depth understanding of Kubernetes concepts, including Operator/Controller patterns, Cluster API, and multi-cluster setups.

• Experience with containers and related technologies such as Docker and containerd.

• Extensive experience with Linux, Go, and Bash.

• Knowledge of CSI, CNI, Crossplane, Load Balancing, and Service Mesh frameworks.
