Principal AI Search – Conversation Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Design and spearhead the architecture of a next-generation conversational AI platform that transforms traditional search into intelligent dialogue.

• Take ownership of systems that comprehend user intent and identify the information necessary to fulfill requests.

• Extract data from multiple real-time sources and analyze competing options.

• Create conversational responses that lead users from exploration to transaction.

• Develop the AI orchestration layer that integrates large language models, specialized agents, retrieval systems, recommendation engines, and external APIs.

• Compile and prioritize information from ticketing providers, hotels, airlines, restaurants, transportation, maps, weather, and various third-party data sources.

• Design AI-native systems for multi-step task planning, maintaining conversational context, executing tools, ranking results, and adapting recommendations based on user feedback.

• Establish the technical vision and set architectural standards.

• Assess emerging AI technologies and make strategic long-term decisions regarding LLM strategy, retrieval architecture, agent design, memory management, semantic search, vector databases, knowledge graphs, and AI evaluation frameworks.

• Mentor senior engineers, architects, and principal engineers.

• Collaborate with Principal Architects across backend infrastructure, payments, blockchain, messaging, mini-programs, and platform services.

• Ensure seamless integration within the ecosystem, focusing on scalability, reliability, performance, and user experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven track record in architecting and delivering production-scale AI platforms utilized by a large user base.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in roles such as Principal Engineer, Chief Architect, Distinguished Engineer, or a similar senior technical position.

• In-depth expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, multi-agent systems, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), semantic search, and contemporary AI orchestration frameworks.

• Strong grasp of recommendation engines, ranking algorithms, personalization, and conversational AI.

• Extensive experience in designing distributed, cloud-native systems that operate globally with high availability and low latency.

• Practical experience in integrating complex third-party APIs and constructing systems that unify multiple real-time data sources into a cohesive user experience.

• Exceptional architectural judgment, capable of simplifying intricate technical challenges into scalable and maintainable solutions.

• Proven ability to lead senior engineering teams, mentor architects and principal engineers, establish engineering standards, and make long-term technical decisions.

• Strong communication skills, enabling collaboration across engineering, product, and executive leadership.

• An entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for developing category-defining products and addressing unresolved challenges.

• A history of launching ambitious, innovative products rather than solely maintaining existing platforms.

• A creative problem solver who confidently proposes and supports new ideas.

• Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, open-source language models, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, DSPy, vector databases, graph databases, and modern AI infrastructure is highly desirable.
