Principal AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and implement sophisticated machine learning models and algorithms

• Choose methodologies, preprocess data, engineer features, train models, and assess performance

• Drive research projects, perform experiments, evaluate algorithms, and pinpoint innovation opportunities

• Design AI system architecture focusing on scalability, efficiency, and reliability

• Enhance algorithms and utilize distributed computing frameworks and cloud services

• Work collaboratively with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to identify AI integration possibilities

• Offer technical direction, leadership, and mentorship to junior engineers

• Supervise design review sessions across projects ensuring compliance with best practices

• Establish long-term design and implementation strategies alongside the engineering manager and team lead

• Facilitate feedback loops and continuous improvement initiatives

• Conduct meetings, monitor progress, resolve issues, and coordinate team efforts

• Present technical strategies and their business implications to executive stakeholders

• Utilize data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning techniques to analyze datasets

• Contribute to intricate applications, system administration, or network solutions when applicable

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or a closely related quantitative field

• 8+ years of experience in AI and Machine Learning

• Strong grasp of supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and statistical modeling

• Experience in implementing and deploying machine learning algorithms, including decision trees, random forests, support vector machines, and neural networks

• Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn

• Expertise in deep learning techniques, architectures, and frameworks, including CNNs, RNNs, and GANs

• Proficient in Python, Java, or C++

• Experience in data wrangling, feature extraction, dimensionality reduction, handling missing values, and ensuring data quality

• Knowledge of linear algebra, calculus, probability theory, and statistics

• Proficient in data visualization tools and techniques

• Understanding of software engineering principles, Git, testing methodologies, and agile development practices

• Experience leading research initiatives, publishing research papers, or contributing to open-source AI projects

• Experience in guiding and mentoring other engineers

• Excellent communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration, technical leadership, and mentorship
