Principal AI Deployment Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the exploration of finance processes alongside controllers, accounting teams, and subject-matter experts from clients.

• Create detailed maps of order-to-cash, month-end close, and procure-to-pay workflows, highlighting systems, controls, handoffs, and exceptions.

• Establish baselines for the current state and define successful outcomes.

• Evaluate process fit, data readiness, associated risks, and necessary human review or approvals.

• Convert accounting workflows and policy requirements into product specifications, decision-making rules, acceptance criteria, roadmaps, and testing scenarios.

• Prioritize opportunities based on feasibility, financial impact, data quality, and implementation effort.

• Advise on the applicability of AI, the sufficiency of standard automation, or the readiness of a process for implementation.

• Collaborate with Forward Deployed Engineers to develop MVP plans, clarify dependencies, and negotiate scope, quality, and timing trade-offs.

• Analyze workflow behavior against representative finance cases, edge conditions, exceptions, reconciliations, and audit evidence.

• Monitor model limitations, data quality, access controls, and risks related to production readiness from prototype to deployment.

• Establish evaluation criteria and business outcomes, tracking results against agreed-upon baselines.

• Present findings, differentiate between measured outcomes and hypotheses, and suggest improvements or subsequent tests.

• Build client confidence through precise communication, effective training, and clear handoffs.

• Transform client insights into reusable process maps, requirements patterns, evaluation methods, and guidance for implementation.

• Contribute controller expertise to finance discovery, solution design, and strategic planning initiatives.

• Identify delivery or client risks early and uphold high standards for finance AI projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• CPA certification and significant experience in a controller or controllership role.

• Extensive experience with ERP, accounting systems, or finance systems implementations and process transformations.

• Strong understanding of core accounting and finance processes and their underlying systems, including order-to-cash, month-end close, or procure-to-pay.

• Proven track record of implementing AI-supported workflows in finance or accounting, along with practical knowledge of AI capabilities and limitations.

• Ability to translate accounting policies, controls, exceptions, and system behaviors into requirements that engineering teams can implement and validate.

• Excellent client-facing communication skills and the ability to ask targeted questions, challenge assumptions, and clearly explain trade-offs.

• Demonstrated ownership of outcomes through the entire process of discovery, delivery, evaluation, and client review.

• Preferred: Experience as a Controller in a private equity-backed organization.

• Preferred: Familiarity with AI-native ERP or finance automation platforms, accounting agents, or ERP integrations.

• Preferred: Experience in finance transformation consulting or working across multiple key finance processes.

• Preferred: Background in defining evaluation methods and controls for AI systems utilized in finance.
