This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Facilitate and execute planning and implementation activities related to health promotion and wellness education.
• Engage in skills development and capacity-building initiatives.
• Take part in research and evaluation efforts.
• Provide consumer-focused information and resources about eating disorders through both print and digital formats.
• Design, implement, and revise community assessments to identify the educational needs regarding eating disorders in the population.
• Identify and create wellness and education programs related to eating disorders tailored for specific groups.
• Foster collaborative partnerships and connections with community entities, clinical offices, health administration, partner organizations, and government stakeholders.
• Organize and execute health service promotion, education, and community outreach events.
• Participate in community networks that focus on eating disorder health challenges.
• Assist community resources in navigating health-related services.
• Advocate for community resources to access capacity-building and skill enhancement opportunities.
• Identify and create health events, forums, and educational opportunities.
• Implement health promotion strategies that encompass health education, social marketing, population health, and community development.
• Provide culturally competent and ethnoculturally sensitive strategies for promoting eating disorders.
• Conduct or coordinate in-service training sessions for Community Program staff.
• Recommend and assist in obtaining accurate, current, reliable, and suitable educational resources.
• Offer quick reference and referral support for adults, youth, and children.
• Present at health conferences, seminars, and workshops.
• Seek opportunities to publish research outcomes.
• Mentor students from community health programs.
• Resident of York Region is essential.
• A degree in a health-related field or a recognized equivalent is required.
• Membership in a regulated health or social service college is necessary.
• Must be a mental health clinician or counselor, or hold an undergraduate degree with additional training in counseling or mental health.
• A minimum of 3 years, up to 4 years, of practical and relevant experience, or 3 months of on-the-job training is required.
• At least two years of experience in a mental health environment focusing on children and youth is essential.
• Preference for candidates with psychotherapy qualifications, community development, and/or public health experience.
• Experience in health promotion, health education, or education related to children/youth is preferred.
• Familiarity with child/youth mental health areas and community development is an asset.
• Experience dealing with anxiety disorders, depression, past trauma, eating disorders, or motivational enhancement is beneficial.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders.
• A valid driver's license and personal transportation are required.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving capabilities are essential.
• Facilitation skills and the ability to achieve consensus among clinical, professional, educator, and community sectors, both in-person and virtually.
• Knowledge and experience in health promotion, population health, community development principles, and determinants of health are necessary.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and leverage colleagues' skills and expertise.
• Capacity to work with program staff and community practitioners to deliver activities, programs, and services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
• Ability to respect the strengths of individuals and communities.
• Awareness and understanding of specific communities and their needs are crucial.
• Comprehension of conventional and alternative health practices, health and wellness, and cultural diversity is important.
• Compliance with pre-employment medical clearance and Halton Healthcare immunization and vaccination policies is required.
• Successful candidates must provide proof of vaccination or a documented medical exemption.
