Prescribed Fire Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead fire management initiatives in Arizona and New Mexico.

• Execute priority prescribed fires and coordinate fire capacity across various programs.

• Assist in the planning, execution, and staffing of prescribed fires.

• Foster partnerships with public agencies, Tribal governments, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

• Supervise prescribed fire operations, wildfire response support, and fire training activities.

• Evaluate and authorize fire management plans and prescribed burn strategies.

• Act as a vital member of planning and leadership teams for programs in Arizona and New Mexico.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years of experience in fire management, natural resource management, or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Must satisfy the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) qualifications for Prescribed Fire Burn Boss Type 2 (RXB2), which includes necessary coursework and experience, or be capable of obtaining this qualification within the first 12 months of employment.

• Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic approaches to fire management, conservation priorities, or natural resource programs.

• Background in reviewing prescribed burn unit plans and fire management strategies for sites.

• Experience in supporting fire training, qualification pathways, and fostering professional growth.

• Familiarity with engaging in or supporting conservation planning and prioritizing landscapes.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively with various partners.

• Supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.

• Demonstrated capability to lead effectively in high-pressure or operational scenarios.

• Proficient in using standard business applications for planning and documentation purposes.
