This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Conduct discovery sessions and process mapping with customer teams — including systems, handoffs, exceptions, and approvals — transforming this information into a pilot scope with a precise Definition of Done.
• Link the proposed solution to quantifiable business outcomes: margin, availability, working capital, revenue, or cycle time.
• Develop and demonstrate pilots tailored to the customer's specific workflow, data structure, approval processes, and write-back targets. Avoid generic presentations.
• Oversee the technical assessment: security evaluations, integration sizing, RFPs, architectural inquiries, and IT concerns. Involve Product or Engineering only when absolutely necessary.
• Assist customers during early platform testing — including kickoffs, initial workflow captures, and troubleshooting issues before they impede the evaluation process.
• Challenge scope, timelines, or success metrics that are impractical — exercising good judgment is preferable to simply agreeing.
• Remain engaged throughout pilot delivery, then smoothly transition responsibilities to Forward Deployed Engineering to ensure that the delivered solution aligns with what was promised.
• Create reusable demo assets, runbooks, and discovery patterns that enhance the efficiency of the entire team.
• Over 5 years in pre-sales, solutions engineering, applied AI, enterprise automation, or forward-deployed work, focused on selling or delivering to enterprise operations, IT, or finance buyers. Experience in retail or consumer goods is advantageous.
• Practical experience with modern AI systems — including LLMs, agentic workflows, tool utilization, evaluation, and their practical limitations — beyond just theoretical knowledge.
• Strong skills in process discovery and systems thinking — capable of grasping unfamiliar operations and identifying leverage points.
• Proficient with APIs, JSON, webhooks, SQL, and basic Python or JavaScript. While you don't need to be a software engineer, you should be able to investigate and prototype effectively.
• Strong commercial acumen — you can assess use cases, gauge value, recognize buying signals, and know when to escalate issues.
• Exceptional communication skills — able to transition quickly between operators, architects, and executives, and convey complex systems in straightforward language.
• A proven history of delivering concise, discovery-led demos rather than lengthy product presentations.
• Fluent in English, with a willingness to travel to customer sites.
• Competitive salary and equity, with the compensation range disclosed during the initial call.
• A seed-stage company supported by Index Ventures ($15M seed), founded by Tom Cupr, who previously established one of Europe's largest online grocery retailers.
• You will be the inaugural pre-sales hire in your region, giving you the opportunity to shape the function.
• Remote work available throughout Europe and the US, with travel to customer sites in your area and a team offsite once every quarter.
