Practice Architect II – AI/ML

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Lead the architectural vision for agentic AI and comprehensive full-stack solutions within assigned customer projects.

• Convert business and technical needs into scalable and sustainable architectural solutions.

• Establish architecture standards and design patterns for project delivery teams.

• Oversee code review processes and architecture evaluation gates, making final decisions on technical trade-offs.

• Write production-level code for customer projects approximately 40–60% of the time.

• Develop reusable accelerators, frameworks, and reference architectures across various engagements.

• Assess emerging technologies and architectural patterns to determine their inclusion in the technology stack.

• Resolve implementation challenges faced by engineering teams.

• Provide technical guidance to engineering pods engaged in multiple concurrent projects.

• Lead offshore technical teams to ensure design intent is preserved during handoffs to distributed teams.

• Mentor engineers on architectural best practices, code quality, and contemporary engineering methodologies.

• Act as the senior technical representative to customer architects, engineering leaders, and executives.

• Communicate architecture decisions, risks, and trade-offs effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Identify technical risks and dependencies early, along with mitigation strategies.

• Foster alignment among customer product, engineering, and business stakeholders.

• Deliver functional systems from enterprise data onboarding through to operation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering and architecture, including a minimum of 3 years as a lead or principal architect.

• At least 2 years of experience in developing production AI/agentic systems that are fully operational, excluding pilots or proofs of concept.

• Experience with enterprise data onboarding and governance, including knowledge or semantic layers, entitlement, and lineage.

• Capability to articulate the security and identity model for agents interacting with enterprise data.

• Currently engaged in coding and able to perform a hands-on technical assessment.

• Proven experience in leading offshore or distributed engineering teams.

• Experience in defining RACI across customer, onshore, and offshore teams during live engagements.

• Successful production delivery on at least two of the following platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Experience interacting with customers at the engineering leadership and executive levels.

• Knowledge of agentic AI, AI-infused solution design, and modern application architecture.

• Proficiency in solution architecture and system design.

• Hands-on experience in software development and prototyping.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding at scale for production use.

• Experience with code reviews, engineering standards, and quality governance.

• Knowledge of RAG and retrieval architectures, including vector and hybrid search, embedding pipelines, retrieval quality tuning, and context and memory management.

• Understanding of agent security, including agent identity, least-privilege tool access, data-boundary enforcement, and auditing.

• Experience with agent execution harnesses, orchestration, failure handling, and human-in-the-loop systems.

• Familiarity with evaluation harnesses, regression suites, groundedness, retrieval quality metrics, and cost and latency measurement.

• Ability to deliver cloud-agnostic solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript/Node, strong SQL skills, and experience with agent frameworks like LangGraph or LlamaIndex, MCP, containers, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
