Policy Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, edit, and help produce research outputs related to FREOPP’s policy initiatives

• Perform both primary and secondary research

• Evaluate public policy

• Create charts and graphical representations

• Prepare research memos and background materials for meetings and media engagements

• Provide constructive feedback and edits on the work of scholars

• Undertake original policy research and enhance expertise on issues central to FREOPP’s mission

• Support senior leadership with research assignments as required

• Submit FOIA requests to various agencies

• Oversee small and large-scale long-term research initiatives

• Facilitate internal outreach for scholars’ projects

• Organize events, gatherings, and various projects

• Handle additional administrative tasks as necessary

• Collaborate closely with senior staff across operations, development, research, scheduling, data management, and special projects

⛳️ Requirements

• 0–4 years of experience in public policy research or a related discipline such as economics or political science

• Strong dedication to FREOPP’s mission

• Proficient data analysis skills

• Competence in Excel and at least one other platform: R, Python, or Stata

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

• Comfortable receiving direct feedback and quickly integrating it

• Capable of recognizing and completing important tasks promptly

• Positive, collaborative mindset and readiness to assist wherever needed

• Creative, diligent, and aligned with the mission

• Candidates must be located in and authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the program
