This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Define the architecture, design patterns, and integration standards across AI, data, and tooling.
• Establish APIs, data models, security controls, and observability requirements.
• Ensure high-quality, structured data for AI, focusing on lineage, consistency, and readiness.
• Set standards for the safe use of AI, including explainability, auditability, and controlled actions.
• Design a unified integration strategy across tools and platforms.
• Ensure tools generate consistent, high-quality data that is ready for AI applications.
• Create scalable and reusable solutions as the default approach (“paved roads”).
• Drive standardization efforts, minimize duplication, and guide the adoption of best practices.
• Lead decisions on whether to build, buy, or integrate solutions, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and governance-driven.
• Collaborate with teams (ACP, SD&O, T&P) to ensure platform alignment.
• Influence teams to promote simplification, reuse, and consistency.
• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience across at least 3 programming paradigms, including: a) Object-oriented (Java & JavaScript required plus at least one other language), b) Procedural/systems (e.g., Go, Rust, C), c) Functional (e.g., F#, Elixir, Clojure, Haskell).
• Experience with modern development tools (e.g., IntelliJ or VS Code, Git/GitHub, Spring Boot) and designing robust RESTful APIs.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in architecting and delivering large-scale distributed systems, such as cloud-native microservices on Docker/Kubernetes, deployed on modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or equivalent), ensuring scalability, high availability, and performance.
• Proven success as a high-impact technical advisor to multiple engineering teams, with a demonstrated ability to influence architectural direction and mentor engineers in best practices, alongside proven leadership responsibilities.
• Expert-level knowledge of Agile/XP and DevOps methodologies, including paired programming, test-driven development (TDD), and CI/CD automation, with a successful track record of employing these practices to accelerate delivery and enhance quality.
