Platform Analyst – Research Office Managed Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee, manage version control, and enhance internal Power BI reports and dashboards consistently.

• Create and sustain accurate, timely, and visually appealing reporting functionalities for clients.

• Act as the main point of contact for routine reporting inquiries from both internal teams and clients.

• Address reporting issues and collaborate with the DevOps Platform Engineer for resolution.

• Develop and present technical skill-enhancement content through the Tech Committee.

• Lead learning sessions to help committee members improve their skills in relevant tools and platforms.

• Record reporting logic, data definitions, and standards for dashboards.

• Support testing and quality assurance for platform modifications that impact reporting data flows or client outputs.

• Recognize opportunities to automate or optimize manual reporting procedures and provide recommendations backed by analysis.

• Within the first 90 days, document the inventory of Power BI reports, create a remediation backlog, review client outputs, suggest a quality checklist or release process, conduct a learning session for the Tech Committee, and present a proposal for automation or simplification.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in a business analyst, data analyst, or platform/reporting position within a technology-oriented organization.

• Expertise in Power BI, encompassing report and dashboard creation, DAX fundamentals, data model management, and workspace administration.

• Proven experience in developing and maintaining client-facing reports or deliverables.

• Background in working with structured data from various sources, including Excel, SharePoint, SQL, and APIs.

• Basic understanding of ETL concepts.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical outputs to non-technical audiences.

• Experience collaborating within cross-functional teams that include senior engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

• Preferred: experience in Managed Services, consulting, or multi-client delivery.

• Preferred: familiarity with Azure DevOps.

• Preferred: exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Dataflows Gen2, or Power Query.

• Preferred: experience in facilitating training or technical enablement activities.

• Preferred: familiarity with Claude, Copilot, or ChatGPT.

• Preferred: Microsoft Power BI certification (PL-300) or equivalent.
