PHP, React Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Assist in launching the new React Native mobile application from initial setup to its first release.

• Develop and enhance PHP APIs and services.

• Help determine how the mobile application integrates with existing systems.

• Establish patterns and conventions for mobile application development.

• Take ownership of features and components from design discussions through to development and release.

• Identify opportunities to modernize the current codebase.

• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues in the vanilla PHP application.

• Debug problems across application logic, database interactions, and integrations.

• Deliver secure, well-tested solutions that minimize the risk of regression.

• Analyze logs, error reports, and monitoring data to uncover root causes.

• Collaborate with QA and Support teams to reproduce issues and verify fixes.

• Assist in enhancing performance and reliability.

• Engage in code reviews and technical discussions.

• Apply standards for code quality, testing, and deployment.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to streamline development, testing, and documentation.

• Contribute to incremental improvements in shared utilities or internal tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a PHP engineer delivering production-level software.

• Practical experience with React Native, including at least one application successfully launched on the App Store and/or Google Play.

• Experience in creating and utilizing REST APIs for web or mobile clients.

• Proven ability to debug and resolve issues in large or legacy codebases.

• Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL.

• Comprehensive knowledge of modern development practices, including version control (Git), CI/CD, and automated testing.

• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting and transitioning between new development and production support.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in tracing complex bugs.

• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools as part of daily development processes.

• Familiarity with PHP applications that connect with third-party APIs.

• Experience in progressively modernizing legacy systems without impacting production.

• Awareness of secure coding practices and data integrity issues.

• Understanding of mobile-specific challenges such as offline behavior, push notifications, or app release cycles.
