Senior Software Engineer – AMS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across APIs, database queries, computations, and background processes.

• Enhance latency, increase throughput, and optimize resource utilization.

• Upgrade the data-access layer and advance a legacy data model that relies on XML and JSON.

• Fortify queue and asynchronous processing architecture.

• Distinguish resource-heavy workloads from customer-facing traffic.

• Ensure calculations are completed nearly in real-time while managing retries and failures effectively.

• Enhance monitoring and observability.

• Establish performance benchmarks for substantial workloads and proactively identify issues prior to customer impact.

• Translate performance and scalability objectives into actionable technical plans and oversee their execution in production.

• Collaborate with the Data Platform team to integrate new data functionalities into AMS.

• Evaluate complex architectural modifications.

• Mentor engineers and provide guidance to engineering leadership on scaling and long-term enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of backend engineering experience, encompassing ownership of intricate systems from design to production.

• Proficient in Java with hands-on experience in working with and enhancing established codebases.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, RESTful API design, and performance optimization at scale.

• Experience in operating backend applications within AWS.

• Knowledge of containerized infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code tools.

• US citizenship and residency are mandatory for access to the secure environment.

• Availability to participate in an on-call rotation.

• Experience transitioning monolithic applications to containerized or service-oriented architectures.

• Background in data-intensive, high-scale, or security-sensitive environments.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Strong grasp of the JVM, including the ability to troubleshoot memory and CPU issues under load.

• DevOps experience with extensive knowledge of AWS.

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
