Pharmacy Technician, Refill Authorization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Assist pharmacists in delivering safe, effective, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care.

• Review patient charts to confirm provider visits and assess refill eligibility.

• Collect and evaluate lab results, monitoring parameters, and medication history.

• Prepare and document refill authorization requests utilizing pharmacy technology systems.

• Ensure that clinical criteria and documentation are complete prior to pharmacist review.

• Route refill requests to pharmacists for final verification and processing.

• Communicate with pharmacists and members of the care team regarding missing information and clarification needs.

• Identify safety concerns or gaps in care and escalate them as necessary.

• Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in patient records.

• Collaborate with a large remote pharmacy team across various care settings.

• Support pharmacy services in acute, community, ambulatory, and specialty locations.

• Engage in planned future cross-training with the Prior Authorization and Medication Assistance teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

• Current pharmacy technician certification and/or license relevant to the state of practice.

• Active Pharmacy Technician license in Utah, Colorado, Montana, or Nevada.

• Up-to-date knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations and statutes.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience is preferred.

• Previous experience in a health system or retail environment is preferred.

• Familiarity with the top 100 most commonly prescribed medications is preferred.

• Strong computer skills are essential.

• Ability to navigate multiple systems and complex electronic health records.

• Capability to work variable 8- to 10-hour shifts between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Sunday.

• On-camera filter-free Microsoft Teams video interview is required.

• Onsite interviews and/or meetings may be necessary.
