Pharmacy Technician – Prior Authorization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Handle prior authorization requests received via phone, fax, or electronically.

• Utilize computer resources, established criteria, and medication guidelines to perform clinical research that supports prior authorization evaluations.

• Finalize expiring prior authorization approvals and denials.

• Ensure complete, timely, and accurate documentation is maintained.

• Assess denial language for compliance with NCQA standards.

• Adhere to prior authorization workflows, policies, and procedures.

• Respond to a high volume of inquiries from provider offices, pharmacies, and internal stakeholders.

• Relay prior authorization status or decisions using computer resources.

• Maintain a balance between productivity, quality, and timeliness.

• Engage in necessary training, continuing education, and team or departmental meetings.

• Work scheduled 8-hour shifts during operating hours from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; overnight shifts may be available.

• Uphold excellent attendance.

⛳️ Requirements

• National Pharmacy Technician certification and a current Arizona State Pharmacy Technician license in good standing are required and must be maintained.

• 1–5+ years of experience in Pharmacy Prior Authorization processing.

• High School diploma or G.E.D. is required.

• Strong ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.

• Flexibility to adjust based on business or departmental needs.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Must have home internet access with a minimum download speed of 100 Mbps.

• Secure workspace/office setup at home is required.

• Proficient PC skills, including the ability to navigate multiple systems and screens.

• Availability to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.

• Willingness to work extended hours as needed.

• A rotating weekend schedule may be required.
