People Operations – System Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assist with the onboarding and offboarding processes for employees and contractors.

• Oversee semi-monthly payroll processing in collaboration with the PEO.

• Aid in benefits administration, payroll coordination, tax, and compliance tasks.

• Collaborate with People/HR leadership to implement new policies, programs, and initiatives.

• Discover opportunities to enhance HR processes through technology.

• Manage the Employer of Record (EOR) system for international team members.

• Support the recruitment team in organizing and scheduling interviews.

• Ensure data integrity by maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records.

• Produce reports and dashboards to assist in decision-making and compliance efforts.

• Execute system improvements, integrations, and process enhancements.

• Regularly audit HR data to identify and rectify discrepancies.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in HR, people operations, or closely related fields; backgrounds in employment law, legal operations, or compliance-related roles are encouraged.

• Practical experience in managing and administering HRIS systems.

• Strong knowledge of essential HR practices, employment laws, and compliance regulations; familiarity with multi-state or contractor classification issues is advantageous.

• Experience in supporting or transitioning from a PEO to in-house HR is preferred.

• Ability to balance employee-facing support with behind-the-scenes system tasks.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and data-focused — skilled in managing sensitive information discreetly.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in a startup or fast-growing company is a plus.
