This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Report directly to the COO and eventually to the Head of People while collaborating closely with the people operations team.
• Take ownership of the onboarding and offboarding procedures for employees and contractors.
• Act as the primary point of contact for staff inquiries related to support, including benefits, payroll, policies, and other matters.
• Maintain the internal handbook that provides staff guidance, policies, and procedures.
• Manage relationships with Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs), Employer of Record (EOR) services, and other HR service providers.
• Monitor employee and contractor contracts and make amendments as necessary.
• Oversee employment visa sponsorship processes.
• Coordinate and manage performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with requirements across different jurisdictions where staff are employed.
• At the Manager level, take full ownership of HR and staff support functions from start to finish, design processes and policies, make strategic decisions regarding providers, benefits, and compliance, influence organizational culture, and spearhead staff experience initiatives while mentoring the People Operations Associate.
• Possess an operations mindset: identify challenges, track rapidly changing tasks, prioritize effectively, and implement solutions efficiently.
• Have a systems-oriented approach and a keen interest in optimizing processes and reducing inefficiencies.
• Demonstrate ownership and initiative in recognizing issues and proposing solutions.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills and a comfort level with providing open and direct feedback.
• Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in people operations or HR.
• For Manager level applicants: possess at least 5 years of experience in operations, including experience in people management.
• Show strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Be comfortable with remote work environments.
• Have prior familiarity with and interest in Epoch’s mission.
• Maintain professional-level proficiency in English.
• Have the ability or preference to overlap work hours with UTC−8 (Pacific Time) and UTC (Greenwich Mean Time).
• Candidates willing to travel will be preferred.
• Annual salary ranging from $95,000–$139,000 USD for the Associate level and $115,000–$153,000 for the Manager level, depending on seniority and location.
