This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the subject matter expert and the main point of contact for all matters related to employee relations — from everyday policy inquiries to intricate and sensitive investigations.
• Lead and document workplace investigations, ensuring fairness in procedures, comprehensive fact-finding, and prompt resolutions.
• Oversee the complete termination process — whether performance-related or not — which includes drafting termination documents, calculating entitlements according to applicable employment standards, and liaising with legal counsel as necessary.
• Provide guidance to managers on performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, and progressive discipline, ensuring uniformity and compliance throughout the organization.
• Handle complex employee situations involving conflicts, accommodation requests, and delicate interpersonal matters with discretion and sound judgment.
• Actively identify employee relations trends and present recommendations to leadership to tackle root causes before they escalate.
• Administer and coordinate all types of leaves of absence, including medical, parental, disability, and other statutory leaves in accordance with relevant Canadian provincial and US state legislation.
• Collaborate with employees, managers, and benefits carriers to ensure smooth transitions during leaves and effective return-to-work planning.
• Keep accurate records of leave tracking and ensure compliance with all applicable employment standards regulations.
• Support organizational design and planning efforts, including workforce restructuring, role realignments, and team adjustments.
• Work alongside leaders to formulate change management plans that minimize disruptions and enhance employee engagement during transitions.
• Provide HR insights and communication support for organizational announcements and change initiatives.
• Assist in the implementation and administration of company-wide people programs, including performance cycles, engagement surveys, and total compensation initiatives.
• Embrace AI-augmented work — utilize tools like Claude to streamline reporting, draft necessary documentation, aid in project management, and lessen administrative burdens, allowing focus on high-value HR partnerships.
• Ensure adherence to Canadian and US labor laws and internal HR policies, serving as a subject matter expert and resource for managers and employees.
• Utilize HR data and analytics to identify workforce trends, uncover insights, and suggest improvements to HR processes and programs.
• Collaborate with the Talent team to provide recruitment and onboarding support as needed during peak times or organizational transitions.
• 5–7 years of progressive HR Business Partner experience, demonstrating substantial expertise in employee relations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field (preferred).
• CPHR and/or SHRM certification is a plus.
• Proven ability to use AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini) to enhance HR operations — including drafting communications, creating workflows, analyzing data, and swiftly synthesizing information.
