PDF Annotation, Transcription Expert – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Review and verify assigned PDF pages.

• Ensure pages are in Japanese, readable, contain authentic content, and do not display personal information.

• Identify and delineate every significant page region.

• Assign component types and establish reading-order indexes.

• Connect regions to corresponding figures or tables using parent component identifiers.

• Accurately transcribe all text, including Japanese scripts and handwritten materials.

• Highlight any regions of the source that are unreadable.

• Document language, document type, source, page dimensions, and metadata related to tables, formulas, and handwriting.

• Evaluate the work of colleagues comprehensively as a seasoned annotator.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese.

• Comprehensive understanding of kanji, hiragana, and katakana, including furigana and different character variants.

• Professional experience in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial duties, or similar document-heavy roles.

• Exceptional character-level accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.

• Ability to consistently apply a taxonomy across numerous pages.

• Familiarity with vertical text, multi-column newspapers, exam papers, and handwritten documents.

• Must hold independent contractor status.

• Currently unable to accommodate H1-B or STEM OPT candidates.
