PDF Annotation, Transcription Expert – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Review and verify the provided Japanese PDF-page tasks.

• Ensure that the pages are in Japanese, clearly readable, contain authentic content, and do not display any personal information.

• Identify and delineate every significant page region, including titles, headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, figures, diagrams, captions, formulas, questions, and answer fields.

• Assign types to components and determine reading-order indexes.

• Connect regions to their corresponding parent figures or tables.

• Accurately transcribe all text as it appears, including kanji, hiragana, katakana, furigana, and handwritten content.

• Highlight any illegible source regions.

• Document language, type of document, source, page dimensions, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting.

• Conduct thorough reviews of colleagues' work as a skilled annotator.

• Generate human-authored training data for document AI and advanced AI models.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a native Japanese speaker with complete proficiency in kanji, hiragana, and katakana, including furigana and various character forms.

• Professional background in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial tasks, or similar document-heavy roles.

• Exceptional character-level accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.

• Ability to consistently apply a taxonomy across numerous pages.

• Comfortable with vertical text, multi-column newspapers, examination papers, and handwritten forms.

• Required fluency in Japanese.

• Must be able to reproduce Japanese text in its original script rather than in romaji.

• Status as an independent contractor is necessary.

• H1-B and STEM OPT candidates are not supported.
