
Payroll Specialist – Part-Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.
• Oversee and coordinate the entire monthly payroll process for all legal entities (DE, UK, US, FR) and Employer of Record setups.
• Collaborate with external payroll service providers.
• Prepare, confirm, and assess payroll inputs and outputs.
• Address and resolve any payroll discrepancies.
• Reconcile payroll data while ensuring compliance with statutory deductions and filings.
• Act as a liaison between the Finance and People teams regarding payroll issues.
• Review and approve monthly payroll journal entries.
• Guarantee precise cost center allocations and appropriate treatment of employer-related payroll expenses.
• Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations for payroll-related accounts during the month-end close process.
• Keep meticulous records, audit trails, and supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries with clarity, empathy, and timeliness.
• Ensure adherence to payroll regulations across various jurisdictions.
• Promote continuous process improvements.
• Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist.
• Availability for part-time work of 3 days per week or flexible hourly equivalent.
• Extensive experience managing payroll in Germany and at least one additional jurisdiction, either the UK or US.
• Capability to independently manage multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of statutory payroll regulations, including taxes, pensions, and filings.
• Experience working in partnership with external payroll service providers.
• Proficient in both written and spoken German and English.
• French language proficiency is advantageous.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and discretion when handling sensitive information.
• Ability to work autonomously across various payroll cycles and proactively identify issues.
• Confidence in collaborating cross-functionally and ensuring accountability from external providers.
• Familiarity with HRIS or EoR platforms is advantageous, such as Papaya Global, Justworks, or HiBob.
• Experience with DATEV or similar payroll tools is beneficial, though not mandatory.
