Payroll Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Accurately prepare and process payrolls promptly, adhering to employment agreements and CRA regulations.

• Ensure the integrity of the payroll database, following established procedures and maintaining internal controls.

• Generate year-end reports, including T4As and T4s.

• Address employee and system-related issues while collaborating with Human Resources on payroll topics.

• Record payroll, expenses, and allocations within the accounting system.

• Reconcile and report on government remittances related to payroll.

• Keep government accounts in good standing.

• Monitor changes in federal and provincial legislation that impact payroll and inform management accordingly.

• Ensure adherence to legislation as well as organizational policies and procedures.

• Carry out ad hoc tasks, which may include creating employment contracts and engaging in various projects.

• Prepare payroll reconciliations, working papers, analysis, and reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

• Onboard new clients to the payroll system, providing recommendations for best practices.

• Execute basic bookkeeping tasks for multiple clients.

• Report directly to the Accounting Manager and work collaboratively with accounting professionals.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of payroll experience.

• Additional experience in bookkeeping is considered advantageous.

• Payroll certification (PCP) is viewed as an asset.

• Experience in processing payroll for non-unionized employees, both salaried and hourly.

• Familiarity with payroll and electronic timekeeping software such as QuickBooks Time, ADP, and Ceridian.

• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are required.

• Ability to work proficiently in a digital and paper-free environment.
