Payroll Manager

📋 Description

• Comprehensive payroll management for over 2,700 employees spanning various Canadian provinces — encompassing governance structures, approvals, reconciliations, statutory remittances, and year-end reporting (T4, T2200)

• Sole accountability for the outsourced BPO provider — directing the vendor team, leading governance assessments, tracking KPIs and SLAs, and promoting ongoing performance enhancements and corrective measures

• Ownership of escalated cases involving intricate payroll, benefits, and leave matters — including root-cause analysis and remedial actions

• Management of cross-border payroll for U.S. executives, including workday splits and foreign exchange rate applications

• Ensuring compliance and integrity of the WCB program across all relevant provinces

• Upgrading payroll and HRIS systems, implementing configuration modifications, and continuously optimizing processes

• Management of internal and external audits, SOX controls, and ensuring data integrity across payroll and benefits systems

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of progressive, full-cycle payroll experience across various Canadian jurisdictions

• Proven track record in managing outsourced or offshore payroll delivery teams, with a focus on establishing accountability and enhancing performance

• Established vendor management expertise — overseeing SLAs, conducting governance reviews, and handling escalations

• In-depth knowledge of multi-jurisdictional payroll laws, WCB compliance, statutory remittances, and year-end reporting

• Experience in handling cross-border payroll (Canada/U.S.) and applying foreign exchange rates

• Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure

• Effective communicator who can simplify payroll complexities for HR, Finance, and executive stakeholders

• Familiarity with Workday or similar HRIS/payroll systems is a plus

• CPM, PCP, or equivalent payroll certification is a plus
