This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Compile and document employee time and payroll information for the weekly payroll cycle.
• Accountable for importing, balancing, and processing weekly payroll promptly using various payroll timekeeping systems.
• Verify the accuracy, compliance, and approvals of received payroll data; notify managers of any discrepancies requiring clarification, adjustment, or approval.
• Reconcile and balance the weekly processed payroll with payroll registers.
• Ensure adherence to internal payroll controls, including compliance with Ryder Internal Audit processes; validate proper overtime calculations where applicable; review audit reports and investigate high overtime hours; confirm that payroll batch files transferred between systems are balanced.
• Assist managers, employees, HR, and locations with payroll-related inquiries.
• Conduct payroll output verification and processing for the weekly payroll cycle, which involves balancing processed payroll, generating various reports for distribution, preparing mail couriers for locations, and updating internal departmental spreadsheets.
• Monitor employee vacation accruals; process weekly vacation requests by recording vacation days, confirming time availability, and calculating vacation earnings payouts.
• Follow up with location managers to resolve discrepancies.
• Support special projects and provide backup for other payroll cycles as needed.
• Must reside in Canada with experience in supporting Canadian payroll operations.
• High School diploma/GED; a Vocational/Professional diploma in accounting-related studies is preferred.
• Vocational/Professional diploma in Payroll Compliance.
• Payroll certification through the National Payroll Institute (PCP/PLP) is preferred.
• At least one (1) year of experience with payroll working knowledge.
• One (1) year or more of experience in payroll processing for over 1000 employees is preferred.
• 0 to one (1) year of experience with multi-provincial payroll is preferred.
• 0 to one (1) year of experience in customer service is preferred.
• Ability to swiftly adapt to changing assignments, work environments, and priorities.
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in English, both written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in French, both written and verbal communication skills (preferred).
