This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Accurately process multi-state payroll within Workday, adhering to scheduled regular and off-cycle runs.
• Reconcile payroll data ahead of each processing cycle and proactively address any discrepancies.
• Oversee the settlement dates of stock/equity transactions and ensure timely execution of tax deposits, including same-day deposits when necessary.
• Audit payroll results to guarantee accuracy and compliance with regulations.
• Execute and validate tax deposits utilizing Workday and ADP SmartCompliance; escalate any discrepancies with comprehensive documentation.
• Maintain payroll records in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Utilize (or learn) AI-driven payroll tools, such as Workday Payroll Agents, to enhance processing and auditing workflows.
• Track payroll tax thresholds and deadlines, including triggers for next-day deposits.
• Assist with year-end processes, including W-2 generation, ACA reporting, and payroll tax reconciliation.
• Support audits and regulatory inquiries by preparing precise payroll documentation.
• Document and track essential payroll timelines to promote accountability and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with HR Business Partners and Total Rewards on compensation adjustments, onboarding, terminations, and leave processing.
• Address employee payroll inquiries with professionalism and clarity.
• Aid in documenting and standardizing processes to minimize single points of failure.
• Contribute to enhancements in Workday and broader improvements in People Operations processes.
• 3–5 years of direct payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state context.
• Required hands-on experience with Workday Payroll; experience with equity or stock-based payroll is highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with ADP SmartCompliance and comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, including IRS deposit regulations and Form 941 reconciliation.
• Proven ability to meet stringent, non-negotiable deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Strong skills in reconciliation and analysis — able to identify issues before they escalate.
• Comfortable in a dynamic environment where processes are under development and improvement.
• Clear and professional communicator capable of simplifying payroll complexities for those outside the payroll department.
• Proficient in Excel and open to utilizing AI tools to enhance workflows.
• Experience with AI tools to boost accuracy, efficiency, or process automation (in payroll or related workflows).
• Willingness to experiment with automation, prompts, and system capabilities to lessen manual tasks.
• Inquisitive and adaptable as roles and processes evolve.
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is preferred but not mandatory.
