This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Review and process bi-weekly payroll for subsidiaries in the U.S. and Canada.
• Conduct timecard reviews, payroll accounting, and reconciliations.
• Complete compliance filings on a quarterly and annual basis.
• Manage accounts payable tasks related to payroll compliance and benefits.
• Assist with year-end reporting, including W-2s, T4s, RL-1s, and vendor 1099s.
• Investigate and resolve issues, initiating corrective actions and adjustments as needed.
• Oversee the maintenance of the Dayforce payroll system.
• Accurately and timely prepare general ledger transactions.
• Support the annual audit of the 401(k) plan.
• Ensure that annual benefits updates are implemented accurately and on time.
• Organize and maintain transaction files for sub-ledgers.
• Ensure a timely and precise closing process for designated responsibilities.
• Manage the Payroll inbox and respond to employee inquiries.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and GAAP standards.
• Develop and implement new policies, procedures, and process enhancements.
• Handle Canadian payroll obligations, including the filing of Records of Employment (ROEs).
• Execute the annual vacation rollover and entitlement true-up according to provincial regulations.
• Provide ad hoc support to the Accounting team during periods without payroll processing.
• Report to the Senior Operational Accounting Manager.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or over 5 years of payroll accounting experience.
• 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in payroll, benefits, compliance, accounting, and auditing.
• Required experience in processing payroll for both U.S. and Canadian entities.
• Familiarity with GAAP, internal controls, and quality control principles.
• Experience with Canadian payroll and vacation entitlements is essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish connections and build relationships with employees and various departments.
• Capability to manage and prioritize multiple competing tasks while meeting deadlines.
• A mindset focused on process improvement.
• Demonstrated adaptability, personal accountability, a high level of ownership, and a strong drive for success.
• Responsive and proactive with excellent customer service skills.
• A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a commitment to understanding responsibilities and enhancing processes.
• Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is preferred.
• French language skills are a plus.
