This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Process and oversee semi-monthly payroll for both salaried and hourly employees across a multi-state remote workforce utilizing Workday, ADP, or similar payroll systems.
• Ensure precise payroll processing for changes in compensation, bonuses, commissions, deductions, garnishments, PTO, and final pay obligations.
• Review payroll registers, payroll reports, and exception reports prior to granting payroll approval.
• Uphold compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and wage and hour regulations.
• Assist with quarter-end and year-end payroll tasks, including payroll reconciliations and W-2 processing.
• Aid in addressing payroll tax notices, agency inquiries, payroll audits, and regulatory reporting.
• Maintain payroll documentation and enhance internal payroll controls.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and related reconciliations within NetSuite.
• Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts, which include payroll liabilities, bonus accruals, benefits payable, payroll tax obligations, and employee reimbursements.
• Reconcile payroll cash activities and ensure payroll reports align accurately with the general ledger and bank transactions.
• Monitor payroll funding requirements and coordinate disbursements related to payroll.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities concerning payroll, employee accruals, and labor expense allocations.
• Assist with departmental labor reporting, payroll allocations, and financial reporting.
• Prepare payroll schedules and necessary documentation for external audits.
• Identify opportunities to enhance payroll workflows, automation, and system integrations between payroll platforms and NetSuite.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
• 3–5+ years of experience in payroll processing and/or payroll accounting.
• Experience in supporting payroll for a multi-state remote workforce is preferred.
• Familiarity with Workday, ADP, or similar payroll systems is preferred.
• Strong preference for candidates with NetSuite ERP experience.
• Solid understanding of payroll accounting, payroll taxes, payroll compliance, and wage and hour regulations.
• Knowledge of employee benefits administration, 401(k) reconciliations, and payroll-related compliance.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and financial reconciliations.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Capability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and compensation information.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across various departments.
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional), FPC certification, or additional accounting credentials are advantageous.
