Payment Posting Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Efficiently post payments, adjustments, and denials from Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs) to the corresponding patient accounts within the billing system.

• Identify, locate, and retrieve remittance details, including EOBs, from various payer-specific online platforms (such as Availity, Change Healthcare, and government payer sites) and internal queues to ensure prompt payment postings.

• Confirm that all transactions are balanced on a daily basis.

• Proactively identify and address ERA discrepancies (electronic remittance files that do not align with expected receipts or claims) by investigating missing remittances, communicating with payers, or manually posting payments as necessary to keep accounts receivable clean.

• Investigate and rectify claims or posting errors that hinder proper claims reconciliation.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2-3 years of experience in medical billing, payment posting, or a related Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) position.

• Demonstrated ability to navigate and extract remittance data from major payer portals.

• Proven experience in resolving credit balances and processing refunds.

• Proficient in medical billing software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

• In-depth knowledge of EOBs, ERAs, CPT, ICD-10, and typical adjustment/denial codes.

• Exceptional speed and accuracy in data entry.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in reconciling complex accounts and identifying missing remittance issues.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage high-volume processing tasks.

• Capable of being hands-on while also being flexible and resourceful to adapt to the dynamic needs of the business.

• A clear and concise communicator who enjoys the challenge of simplifying complex ideas in both verbal and written formats.
