Online ESL Teacher – Japanese Adult Students

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Provide personalized, conversational, and assessment-oriented English lessons to adult learners from Japan.

• Schedule: Assigned shifts with a 5-minute break between consecutive classes.

• Tailor teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.

• Work collaboratively with students to achieve the best learning results.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of a 3-year National Diploma.

• Completed and accredited 120-hour TEFL certificate or an equivalent qualification.

• At least 1 year of experience in ESL teaching.

• A demo lesson is required as part of the application process.

• Capability to teach English at all CEFR proficiency levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners.

• Energetic, student-centered approach, and comfortable with online teaching.

• Schedule-conscious and adaptable: you must be aware of your shifts and able to adjust to changes.

• Strong and effective communication skills.

• Demonstrate patience and empathy towards learners of all levels.

• Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor.

• Excellent time management and organizational abilities.

• Flexibility in a dynamic, student-focused environment.

• A problem-solving approach.

• Computer specifications: Minimum 2GHz processor with 4 CPUs and at least 8GB RAM.

• Internet requirements: Fibre connection with a LAN cable; minimum upload and download speed of 20 Mbps.

• Backup power solution is necessary to prepare for load shedding or power outages.

• A webcam and noise-cancelling headset are essential.

• A quiet, private, well-lit teaching environment with a neutral background is required.
