Patient Advocate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Rhode Island.

📋 Description

• Be available during the designated coverage hours for communication with the RMI Global Coordination Centre (GCC).

• Deploy to specified medical facilities to greet and support RMI patients within one hour of notification from the GCC, or within other mutually agreed timeframes.

• Collaborate with the GCC to confirm payment arrangements with the receiving medical facilities.

• Act as an intermediary between medical facilities and the GCC when necessary.

• Ensure timely access to care and address issues in a pragmatic and professional manner.

• Provide translation services from the local dialect to English in both verbal and written formats for the GCC.

• Make daily visits to medical facilities during extended inpatient admissions.

• Oversee patient welfare during their admission, ensuring comfort, clarity regarding treatment, and fulfillment of reasonable support requests.

• Build professional relationships with treating physicians and gather current updates from medical teams.

• Deliver prompt written and verbal reports to the GCC concerning patient status and proposed care plans.

• Engage professionally with client management as necessary.

• Utilize local insights to coordinate additional services as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a medical healthcare professional in the relevant operational area.

• Bilingual proficiency in the local language and dialect (specific to the operational area) as well as English.

• Preferably experienced in providing patient advocacy in remote or international settings.

• Previous experience with foreign travel.

• Exceptional communication skills and a high level of professionalism.

• Proven self-discipline.

• Capability to adapt to a cross-cultural social environment.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and general computer and technology skills is preferred.

• A valid driver’s license for the area of operation is preferred.
