• Engages with third-party payers and guarantors through payer websites or telephone to resolve account balances for all assigned accounts.
• Processes all correspondence within 24 hours of receipt.
• Records detailed notes regarding correspondence in the client’s system.
• Addresses all denials and takes necessary actions to achieve account resolution.
• Submits appeals as required for all non-clinical denials.
• Monitors all denials for trends and issues, reporting findings to the supervisor.
• Bills or re-bills claims as necessary.
• Ensures compliance with all state and federal billing regulations and HIPAA guidelines.
• Completes assigned special projects within the designated time frames.
• Participates in training sessions and seminars provided by the Client and Third-Party Payers.
• Properly documents each account worked in the client practice management system.
• Makes necessary corrections in the client practice management system.
• Resolves or forwards any address and/or plan changes appropriately to maintain the integrity of the insurance master.
• Updates patient accounts with corrected demographic or insurance information.
• Posts adjustments according to standard operating procedures or as directed by leadership.
• Handles all customer calls, both internal and external, in a professional and courteous manner.
• High School Diploma / GED or 3 years of relevant equivalent experience in place of Diploma / GED.
• 1-3+ years of experience in office, business, operations, customer service, or the healthcare field.
• Previous experience with insurance portals is preferred.
• Proficiency in PC skills within a Windows environment is required.
• Knowledge and use of desktop applications including Word and Excel are essential.
• Ability to initiate and complete projects independently with minimal supervision.
