Patient Account Representative II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Address payer inquiries by supplying medical records or other required documentation through mail or payer portals

• Follow up on outstanding patient accounts in Epic by reaching out to payers via phone or portal

• Resolve claim discrepancies

• Examine payer variances and pursue underpayment issues

• Analyze and address payer rejections and denials, and initiate appeals when necessary

• Edit and submit electronic or paper claims to payers

• Identify potential trends and escalate them as needed

• Record payments and associated adjustments in Epic

• Address credit balances

• Execute basic charge corrections

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent

• Two (2) years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience

• Achieve weekly individual productivity targets while adhering to established priorities

• Maintain professional communication with PFS staff, payers, and patients

• Follow oral and written instructions and accurately interpret institutional and other policies

• Communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written formats

• Uphold confidentiality of sensitive information

• Perform basic mathematical operations

• Organize, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines

• Collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization

• Familiarity with accounts receivable software systems and medical billing processes

• Understanding of medical reimbursement policies, procedures, and terminology

• Knowledge of the payer landscape, including Medicare, Medicaid, Workers’ Compensation, Managed Care, or commercial insurance

• Strong operational knowledge of systems and processes

• Ability to independently resolve standard queries and challenges and manage moderately complex tasks requiring critical thinking
