This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Engage with payers via phone, email, fax, or websites to address unresolved claims.
• Assess and update patient and financial data.
• Confirm responsible parties or insurance entities for bill settlement.
• Oversee billing precision and rectify known discrepancies.
• Track Medicaid/Healthy Options coupons to guarantee timely billing.
• Invoice hospital services to primary insurers or patients within anticipated timeframes.
• Clarify hospital payment regulations while staying informed about insurance rules and hospital agreements.
• Detect and report underpayment issues and trends in denials.
• Evaluate and resolve delays in payer payments and initiate appeals when warranted.
• Manipulate Excel spreadsheets and convey outcomes effectively.
• Achieve departmental productivity and quality benchmarks.
• Maintain professional interactions with patients, insurance payors, colleagues, management, and clients.
• Uphold confidentiality and manage protected health information in accordance with HIPAA standards.
• Adhere to Information Security and HIPAA policies and protocols.
• Restrict access to PHI to the minimum necessary level.
• Execute additional assigned tasks.
• High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.
• Medical Billing and Coding certification is preferred but not essential.
• Experience in Hospital/Facility billing is required.
• 2–3 years of experience in insurance collections, encompassing claim submission and follow-up.
• Fundamental understanding of healthcare claims processing, including ICD-9/10, CPT, HCPC codes, and UB-04.
• Capability to utilize workflow and client host systems such as STAR, SMS, EAGLE, and EPIC.
• Working knowledge of insurance follow-up and healthcare reimbursement strategies.
• Comprehension of government, Medicare, and Medicaid claims.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
• Basic mathematical and typing abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, demonstrating good judgment and timely evaluations.
• High levels of integrity, reliability, urgency, and results-oriented mindset.
• Friendly and inviting customer-service demeanor.
• Must possess a smartphone or electronic device capable of downloading applications for multifactor authentication and security purposes.
• Ability to meet the specified physical and mental demands, including sitting, performing manual tasks, operating computers and telephones, following directions, collaborating, and managing stress.
