This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Manage the complete patch management lifecycle, which includes planning, deploying, validating, and troubleshooting patches on Windows workstations.
• Design and execute patching strategies utilizing SCCM and custom deployment tools for enterprise-wide update rollouts.
• Create, implement, and troubleshoot MSI and other installation packages.
• Analyze and interpret Windows event/log files to identify and resolve patch-related errors or installation failures.
• Leverage PowerShell to automate and enhance patching processes.
• Utilize ticketing systems to monitor, manage, and document patching activities, exceptions, and incidents.
• Collaborate with Vulnerability Management teams and employ tools like Nessus to identify, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Partner with Information Security Officers and stakeholders to ensure patch compliance with VA and industry standards.
• Provide status reports and metrics regarding patch compliance, exceptions, and outstanding vulnerabilities.
• Engage in incident response activities related to vulnerabilities or patch deployment challenges.
• Remain updated on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices in patch management.
• Exhibit technical expertise and professional knowledge.
• Adapt and learn new patching tools or methodologies.
• Proven experience with Windows OS and application patching in a large, complex enterprise setting.
• Proficient in SCCM and patch deployment methodologies.
• Familiarity with MSI packaging and silent installation processes.
• Skilled in the analysis of Windows event/log files.
• Advanced PowerShell scripting skills for automation purposes.
• Practical experience with ticketing systems.
• Knowledgeable in vulnerability scanning and remediation using Nessus or similar tools.
• Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
• A Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
• 10 years of experience in similar positions.
• An additional 8 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Experience in providing services to the federal government is preferred.
• Willingness to work extra hours and weekends as required on occasion.
• Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain a Public Trust.
• Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities concurrently.
