Part-Time Media Relations Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Perform daily and weekly monitoring of media and track clips using Verra’s existing Muck Rack / media-monitoring credentials.

• Create coverage reports, sentiment analyses, and materials suitable for board presentations.

• Keep journalist and media outlet contact lists current and well-organized.

• Compose press releases, pitch documents, and other related communication materials for review and approval by the Senior Director.

• Investigate and pinpoint initial proactive story and pitch opportunities.

• Assist with proactive outreach to journalists and follow-up communications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Background in communications, media relations, public relations, journalism, advocacy communications, or a related discipline.

• Familiarity with media monitoring, media databases, or reporting tools; experience with Muck Rack or similar platforms is advantageous.

• Excellent writing abilities with a knack for drafting press materials, pitches, coverage summaries, or briefing notes under guidance.

• Capability to synthesize coverage, detect pertinent trends, and recognize proactive story opportunities.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a responsive attitude.

• Ability to work autonomously while meeting agreed-upon deliverables.

• A strong interest in climate, sustainability, carbon markets, environmental policy, or mission-driven communications is preferred.

• Proficient written and spoken English communication skills.
