This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.
• Acts as a messenger and representative of faith, mission, and purpose.
• Engages with companies, their workforce, and the community in a manner that reflects character through personal and spiritual practices.
• Conducts brief visits to company worksites on a regular basis (typically weekly) to connect with employees and foster a relationship of trust and friendship, driven by the Chaplain’s profound Christian faith.
• Visits employees or their immediate family members wherever support can be offered, including hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family homes, or other locations.
• May offer confidential pastoral discussions regarding personal challenges faced by employees and their immediate families, covering topics such as family issues, divorce, serious illnesses, caring for aging parents, grief and loss recovery, parenting, financial matters including debt discussions and budgeting, and other life challenges related to financial stress.
• Provides referral services and coordinates specialized assistance for employees and/or their immediate family members with specific needs.
• May assist in the planning, conducting, or attendance of funerals for employees or their immediate family members, including follow-up support and encouragement during the grieving process.
• May conduct visits to employees and their immediate family members in jail.
• Collaborates with companies to notify families and other employees about deaths and serious injuries, offering support to those affected by various tragedies.
• May offer post-termination support for laid-off or terminated employees to facilitate a smooth transition to new employment opportunities.
• May facilitate, though not lead, spiritual enrichment activities, as employee-sponsored initiatives tend to yield better results than chaplain-led events.
• Provides, as needed or requested, literature and additional resources to assist company employees with life challenges.
• Represents companies to clients/customers where ministry services are relevant (e.g., serious illnesses, accidents, traumatic events, and funerals).
• Participates in new employee orientations to explain the Employee Care Service and the role of the Chaplain Team.
• With the Executive Director of Operations (EDO) approval, responds positively and proactively to additional duties and services requested by company executive leadership, within the framework of the Letter of Agreement between MCHAP Chaplains and the company.
• Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and in an interfaith environment.
• Skills to effectively listen and engage with clients, employees, and their families.
• Proficiency in delivering community presentations.
• Ability to handle interactions with family members and staff in high-stress situations.
• Strong respect for the dignity and worth of clients, employees, and their families.
• Ability to manage stressful situations and accurately document according to established standards.
• Spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian lifestyle aligned with MCHAP's Ministry values.
• Integrates Christian values and beliefs into daily activities and job performance.
• Possesses a fundamental understanding of the Holy Bible and its appropriate application.
• Confirms a saving faith in Jesus Christ and actively engages in a biblically-based church community.
• Demonstrates the ability to interact professionally with diplomacy, patience, and courtesy across diverse groups.
• Capable of establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships while delivering exceptional customer service.
• Able to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential matters.
• Exhibits excellent oral and written communication skills for effective interaction with leadership, colleagues, employees, and families.
• Maintains emotional stability to handle human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
• Demonstrates skill in analyzing information to identify and address problems or objectives.
• Capable of identifying solutions and resolving issues.
• Skilled in interpreting policies and procedures related to the role and keeping others informed.
• Proficient in using Google Suite, Microsoft Office, or other equivalent software.
• Ability to comprehend and learn new technology programs.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license and meet state minimum auto insurance requirements (in the states where services are provided).
• No guaranteed minimum hours.
• Positional requirements will vary based on Chaplain availability and Client needs.
