This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +2 more states.
• Oversee litigation files from initiation to resolution, including preparation for trial.
• Provide support to multiple attorneys within Client Legal Services.
• Draft and submit pleadings, discovery documents, motions, and other legal papers.
• Organize expert evaluations and prepare necessary disclosures.
• Develop materials for arbitration and trial, including jury instructions when relevant.
• Manage e-filing processes within the appropriate courts and jurisdictions as required.
• Keep track of court calendars and manage litigation deadlines, encompassing discovery timelines, pleadings, motions, filings, and hearings.
• Track case deadlines to ensure timely service and adherence to court mandates.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys, claims adjusters, and legal support staff to uphold organized and high-quality case files.
• Deliver substantive litigation and paralegal assistance to Client Legal Services attorneys in matters of insurance defense.
• Candidates must fulfill the regulatory and qualification standards required for the paralegal profession in the state of employment, or possess an equivalent combination of education and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant paralegal experience.
• Over 5 years of paralegal experience concentrated on insurance defense, civil litigation, or related litigation fields.
• Proven experience in supporting multiple attorneys and managing a substantial caseload in a dynamic legal setting.
• Solid understanding of litigation procedures, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and court filings.
• Experience in court calendaring, litigation docket management, and monitoring critical case deadlines.
• Strong intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, encompassing Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
• Preferred experience with legal case management, document management, and e-filing systems.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and adapt to changing business demands.
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through capabilities.
• Demonstrated collaboration and relationship-building skills.
• Submission to a background investigation is required.
• Must have a dedicated, private workspace that is free from distractions, with suitable desk and seating arrangements, and reliable internet service with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload.
