This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Offers specialized assistance to the VP, Associate General Counsel, in the preparation and review of legal documents.
• Aids in case preparation, document management, and the coordination of internal processes to guarantee timely and precise handling of legal matters.
• Composes, prepares, and evaluates a diverse range of legal correspondence, pleadings, agreements, and other documents under the supervision of counsel.
• Conducts and organizes internal investigations while collecting pertinent documentation from university departments.
• Drafts and prepares replies to requests from federal and state agencies, investigations, and related issues.
• Assists academic units with state license prerequisites, disclosures, and arranges timelines to ensure timely submissions.
• Facilitates compliance initiatives, including regulatory filings, policy formulation, and audits (e.g., FERPA, Title IX, Privacy).
• Gathers and organizes responsive information across various business units and prepares reports, summaries, and other documentation.
• Maintains case files and ensures adherence to retention policies and deadlines.
• Manages calendars for litigation and internal matters, encompassing hearings, depositions, and filing deadlines.
• Engages with internal stakeholders to gather information and provide status updates.
• Prepares summaries of legal research and case developments for attorney review.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• An ABA-approved paralegal program certificate is preferred.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, ideally in litigation.
• Experience in higher education or a regulated setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with case management systems and legal research tools is essential.
• Proficient experience with AI utilization in the legal field, adhering strictly to the principles of Ethics and Professional Responsibility as outlined in ABA’s Formal Opinion 512.
