This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +8 more states.
• Conducts legal research and analysis on various legal issues and regulatory matters.
• Assists in researching and responding to legal and compliance inquiries from the help desk.
• Prepares legal documents, including but not limited to discovery requests, garnishments, subpoenas, and deposition notices.
• Manages special projects as assigned by the General Counsel (GC).
• Drafts, reviews, and revises contracts utilizing Track Changes and the Compare feature in MS Word.
• Oversees and maintains contract databases and legal files.
• Aids the GC in providing legal counsel, guidance, and strategic advice regarding legal and regulatory matters affecting the credit union.
• Collaborates with the GC to ensure that the credit union's policies, procedures, and forms adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
• Keeps an inventory of legal matters and supplies updates to the Board of Directors and the management team.
• An Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of legal-related experience in a financial institution, government agency, or law firm is required.
• Proficient in computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe is required.
• A Paralegal Certificate is preferred.
