Over the Phone Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver real-time Chuj ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and asylum proceedings.

• Provide precise, unbiased interpretation with a strong understanding of cultural contexts within immigration and legal settings.

• Uphold confidentiality in accordance with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.

• Accommodate both scheduled and urgent/surge interpretation requests.

• Engage in training sessions, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance evaluations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in both Chuj and English.

• A minimum of 2 years of professional interpreting experience, ideally in immigration, asylum, community, NGO, or government sectors.

• Extensive understanding of Mayan/indigenous Guatemalan culture.

• Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and standards of impartiality.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
