This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
β’ Conduct investigations on commercial property claims in the field, typically involving moderate to high complexity and loss exposure ranging from $20,000 to $250,000.
β’ Examine loss sites and engage experts when necessary.
β’ Analyze coverages, ascertain liability and compensability, and interpret and communicate coverage details and denials.
β’ Create estimates, diagrams, inspection reports, and upload photographs in accordance with company protocols and guidelines.
β’ Establish activities and reserves, authorize payments within designated authority, and ensure the timely issuance of disbursements while managing loss costs and expenses.
β’ Coordinate investigations and assess claims and lawsuits through communication with insured parties, claimants, business partners, witnesses, and experts.
β’ Pursue early resolution opportunities and negotiate intricate settlement packages.
β’ Collaborate with attorneys, account representatives, agents, underwriters, and insureds to formulate strategies for prompt and cost-effective resolutions.
β’ Identify potential recovery and fraud risks and work alongside subrogation, salvage, Recovery, and Special Investigations Units (SIU).
β’ Accurately document claim circumstances and other pertinent business information.
β’ Offer guidance and support to other claims personnel and functional areas.
β’ Stay informed on state and territory regulations, industry trends, and relevant issues.
β’ Report directly to a Manager or Director.
β’ Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
β’ Typically requires a minimum of three to five years of claims experience.
β’ Strong understanding of claims and insurance industry theories and practices.
β’ Proven technical expertise and product-specific knowledge.
β’ Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities.
β’ Capability to work independently, manage time and resources effectively, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
β’ Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions.
β’ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
β’ Adaptability to change and appreciation for diverse opinions and ideas.
β’ Capacity to manage claims with a proactive long-term perspective on business goals and objectives.
β’ Must be willing to travel to loss sites and conduct field inspections 50-75% of the time.
β’ Must be prepared to travel to other offices and locations and be available for catastrophe deployment, including short-notice travel and periods exceeding two consecutive weeks.
β’ Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
β’ Must be able to acquire and retain the necessary licensing as mandated.
