Outside Auto Appraiser

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Conduct physical inspections and evaluations of damaged vehicles at body shops or customer sites.

• Execute estimate evaluations and virtual assessments.

• Partner with repair facilities to guarantee accuracy, consistency, and quality throughout the claims process.

• Create repair estimates utilizing industry-standard estimating software.

• Assess parts, labor, and material expenses to restore vehicles to their pre-loss condition.

• Analyze and resolve vehicle total losses by determining actual cash value through market research and comparable vehicle evaluations.

• Negotiate repair costs and settlements with body shops, clients, and third-party claimants.

• Detect and document pre-existing damages, prior repairs, and possible indicators of fraud.

• Oversee repairs, authorize supplements, and address coverage or repair-related concerns.

• Clarify the appraisal process, respond to inquiries, and keep vehicle owners updated.

• Adjust to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and AI-driven digital tools.

• Act as a technical resource and offer guidance to auto claim professionals.

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.

• Valid adjuster license, where required.

• A minimum of two years of experience in auto physical damage appraisal.

• Expertise in claims management and estimating software.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Sound judgment and effective decision-making skills.

• Exceptional customer service capabilities.

• High attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.

• Proven conflict resolution abilities.

• Capacity to handle stress while maintaining professionalism and composure under pressure.

• Basic knowledge of insurance principles, terminology, state insurance regulations, and claim handling requirements.

• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

• One year of experience in auto physical damage appraisal or a related claims field, or successful completion of the required Travelers Claim Representative training program.

• Valid driver's license.
