Outpatient Hospital Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Gather relevant, accurate, and timely diagnosis and procedural codes from various hospital case types.

• Extract codes from outpatient clinics, emergency departments, surgical cases, observations, infusions, imaging, and professional billing.

• Utilize hospital coding systems and resources effectively.

• Identify data that can be abstracted, presented, and interpreted throughout the hospital data cycle.

• Address coding validation and claim edits using regulatory and compliant methodologies.

• Manage account issues in EPIC.

• Investigate denials.

• Assess family concerns related to coding.

• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's Degree or two years of college coursework in Health Information Management, or equivalent professional experience.

• Alternatively, experience as a Seattle Children’s Apprentice Hospital Coder for no less than 12 months.

• Required certification: AHIMA RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCS-P.

• Required certification: AAPC CPC, COC, CIC, CRC, CPMA, or CPC.

• Proficient use of hospital coding systems and resources.

• Understanding of regulatory and compliant coding processes.
